
Mika is a Neuroscience PhD student at UW-Madison interested in the association between the autonomic nervous system and altered states of consciousness. She trains staff across multiple study sites on transcutaneous auricular vagus nerve stimulation (taVNS). Mika also works with HD-EEG, TMS-EEG, ECG, pupillometry, and various analyses with MATLab and R Studio.
Mika is the first recipient of the “Charles Raison, MD, Graduate Student Scholarship in Depression Fund”, sponsored by Jim Nelson and Nancy Ballsrud.
Previously, Mika completed her MS in Psychoactive Pharmaceutical Investigations from UW-Madison, working in Dr. Cody Wenthur’s lab to test preclinical pharmacodynamics of novel transdermal DMT formulations. She earned her BS in Cellular Biology and Genetics from the University of Maryland-College Park.
